The Snow Avant Première is a cool little get together specially made for proshops to come see and test ride 2009/10 gear before anybody else and get a clearer idea of what they want to have in their shops for their customers next year. The event went on over the week-end in the French resort of La Clusaz so we just had to be there to get our feets on 2010 boards! Today was a really good day with great riding conditions and we were able to test lots of boards! Pretty stoked!
To start things up, here is a first post on BURTON, the numero uno snowboard brand!
Click below to check it out but come back this week as we have pics from DC, ROME, NITRO, BATALEON, FORUM, K2, RIDE, FLOW, VANS, SPECIAL BLEND, DAKINE, NDK, DRAKE, SMITH, SALOMON, SANTA CRUZ, UNION, IS DESIGN, BERN, CELTEK, CELSIUS, and more!?

The BURTON range is huge and between its presentation booth inside and the testing tent outside, most of it was visible. What’s clear from the start is that Burton has been working hard to catch up on K2, Lib Tech etc..on the rocker technology and offering. So many “classic” decks will also be available with reverse camber tech next winter. This includes all type of regular reverse cambers but also flat base - supposedly giving a more skate feeling to the ride, but we didn’t test - and special reverse camber for freeride boards so that the nose always pops out of the pow. We definitely wanted to try out some reverse camber decks. So we took out a HERO and a X8 and had a real good time playing around with these decks: lots of pop, easy to control and spin. Riding reverse camber is really fun and totally different for sure!
Among the new decks we saw is the METHOD. Damn this board is fuckin light!!! It’s a blunt twin freestyle board that got all the most advanced tech available at Burton. Check it out in the slideshow.
That’s it for the big B for now, more after ISPO…
And don’t hesitate to tell us which boards, bindings, boots, or outerwear from BURTON you would like us to focus on during ISPO!

  1. geez, how to you manage to always get thefresh pow, the fresh news, the last gear and all?
The boards look beautiful, real nice. Funny how it took 4 years to get from bones and skullz to happy hippie colors.
As burton sold its soul and gone mainstream????

  2. they’re like the “apple” of the snowboard

hope jake’s gettin better than steve ? computer might hurt more than snowboard…

    : (

    Beubi the burton evangelist

  3. everything!!! like AK and analog!!! All burton hard goods too!!

  4. I’m liking the colours. They show up so much better in colours.

The women’s Lipstick looks AMAZING. But the Burton Fish. SO disappointed. Couldn’t they have made it a little more exciting?

Thanks for the preview! I’ll link you guys up on the blog for this soon.

My special request: Can you snap a shot of the Malolo (PLEASE!) and the Supermodel? Also I’d love to see the new women’s outerwear jackets and pants…

Not sure if I like any of the new designs, will have to wait untill I see them in person to make my final decision.

Oh well, that’s what stickers are for anyways, to cover up ugly topsheets.

Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
    God will appreciate it.

  7. thanks for the overview cool, would love to see the malolo and especially the different versions of the custom x (regular and wide)

  8. [...] Burton [...]

  9. All looks Cool. Ridin 09 HERO 156 def shoulda went up to a 158. its allot looser then i thought not so good in deep pow unless i ditch the ICS binders for the “Classic set up”. gives you and exta 1.5″ set back since the mounting pont is in the center of the binder rather then the outside. You got to love JAKE for the HISTORY, but burton has finally sold its soul. When you see what used to be a core brand, in MACYS, URBAN OUTFITTERS and a bunch of other wack spots you say WTF! He has finally said good by to the people and hello to the almighty $$$$. They are not on the fore front eigther. Just improving on everyones elses shit. ICS came from aquiring FORUM, Rocker and no camber, spoon tip all MIKE OLSEN Bringing thoes things to light. Chek the MC Kink out, there’s the start of your spoon. Jakes cashin in and cashin out–settin his family up for life, he just another business man in my book. Does anyone remember when they made goodS? I got luggage and backpacks from 1998 and they still rock. The board bag I bought last season is already ripping, the clip broke off months ago and its only been airborn 3 times. my luggage broke too. Im not goona front the AK line, boots & Binders are solid but the glass cracked on the nose fist day out on the 09′ HERO. Does he even care anymore? Whats going on? Very inconsistent product, I hope he gets it together for 2010.

  10. can’t wait to get a hold of the “i love pussie” board.

  11. 1st off.. its an i love….. board, and pussy is spelt puss-y, not ie, and finally burton has always owned Forum, and originally the technology for the ICS style bindings was too stiff to use so forum never launched it. Get your shit right guys

  12. That is Bad A and Burton is dropping new designs like crazy this year. I am ready for the new gear to hit tightboards.com so that I can picks some up on the cheap.

  13. Well i have to say that i agree with Daks hearts’ post. Burton used to be a wonderful company, making solid gear that could be used for multiple seasons. Now a day, you are lucky if you can get a Burton product to last a season and a half. Can anyone say “Planned Obsolescence” if you don’t know what that is, i suggest you look it up! Now I know not all Burtons gear is cheaply made Chinese crap. The AK line is great, if you have the $$ to spend. Remember when Burton was BURTON! Not Holden, Analog, AK…etc…etc. Jake is trying to get his family set for life….who in their right mind wouldn’t be? But the need to OUTRAGEOUSLY price the gear they have, that is wort a shit ….well IS shit, i guess! $1,500 for the new “Method” WTF?? Honestly I don’t give a crap about “how sick this board is”. The price tag makes ME sick! Not all snowboarders that truly have a passion for the sport are members of the Rockefella family!! We all want to have the sickest gear on the Mtn. no doubts about this one. But way to go Burton you have just taken the scale to whole new range..price range that is!
