There is something going on at Wir Schanzen: The organizers can look back on a busy summer and so the contest series can present new stops and an interesting modus – thanks to Quiksilver as its new title sponsor. At five different events snowboarders and freeskiers can once again show what they are made of.

An entirely new modus will make this year´s tour even more exciting: At four qualification events the riders can collect points in the overall ranking to qualify for the big final in April. For the first time the Wir Schanzen community will leave the alps and take to new terrain with a tourstop in Heubach/Thüringen. The other contests too have been given a new facelift and with their characteristic setups and individual flairs they won’t allow any boredom. But despite all changes and innovations the Wir Schanzen is still thought of as a stage for the youngsters. Although the starting field has grown more and more international during the last few years and some pros – such as Roy Kittler and Niki Korpela - could be seen at the events, priority is given to the easy and chilled atmosphere. The focus is not on the tough pressure to perform but most of all on riding for fun.

But let´s start from scratch – this year´s Quiksilver Wir Schanzen will start on the 23th January 2010 in Nesselwang. For “The 5ive Barbecue” the Alpspitzpark will be brightly polished so that all enthusiastic park shredders can enjoy a diversified slopestyle course. The rider categories are Snowboard Men and Ski Men, Snowboard Women and Ski Women as well as Snowboard Kids and Ski Kids. We can expect freestyle-action at its best on fine boxes, rails and kickers with different levels of difficulty. The Alpspitzpark offers the ideal setting for the overture of the Wir Schanzen: Jibbing in chilled atmosphere and of course with tasty barbecue.

But what would „The 5ive Barbecue“ be without the traditional party? Exactly! Therefore the Alpspitzhalle will be declared “Perfect Partylocation” on this evening. The Munich Rapper Bigeazie will be seen at some tourstops and at the opening party in Nesselwang prove his skills live on stage. One can especially look forward to see the Drunken Masters, which will put heat on the Wir Schanzen community. With an extensive stage setting they will break new ground and for all dance addicts Big Joe and Slim-C will prepare a perfect mixture of Mash.Up, Pop crossed with Electroclash and not to forget fine Dancefloor. The whole party will start at 21:00 – let´s see if the afterpartys of the past years can be beaten!

As one can see there are no obstacles to a duly overture of the Quiksilver Wir Schanzen 2010 with “The 5ive Barbecue”.

So to all motivated riders out there: don´t waste time and get one of the 100 sought-after contest tickets on www.quiksilver-wirschanzen.de. Some last minute tickets are available on the contest day on site. The entry fee of 20 Euros includes the contest participation, party entry and a lift ticket for the ski area. If you already have a lift ticket you can join in for 10 Euros.
