Yesterday was the warm-up of this crazy event, I’ve named the Kumi-Yama (2nd edition) which takes place in the french ski resort of Les 2 Alpes. But this morning, things were getting serious with the Superpipe & Best Tricks contests. The Superpipe was perfectly shaped and riders were killing it…honestly we went there quite late and did not managed to follow all the series. Yeah I know that’s a shame BrOs!
Gulli Gudmundsson is our Bro of the week!
The Icelandic ripper from Bataleon is busy going big in video and photo shoots around Europe right now. Here’s what Gulli is up to this week…but if you want to see more footage of this sick, stylish rider, check out the Time & Space movie we published last week…
Yeh! right now I’m in Switzerland filming for a little Bataleon movie! It was nice and slushy here 2 days ago but now its colder and icy, not the greatest thing that could happened! Gonna be here till the 25th of March trying to get some filming done. On the 25th I will get myself to Austria for the MBM photo shoot which is till the 4th of April and hopefully I will get some nice picture’s there!
Isenseven finally delivers their first teaser of the season and of course it rulez!
The crew went through hard times at the beginning of the season facing some major injuries, some industry inconveniences with the loss of sponsors, a stolen camera and hard drive crashes, to just name a few. At the same time, Europe got blessed with a humongous amount of snow, making them ditch all previous plans and get lost in places we thought we’d never end up.
After enjoying dark rail nights in Scandinavia or sitting in Swiss mountain towns waiting for the sun to come out (what rarely happened), they are back more alive than ever and can proudly present the first teaser for the upcoming project “Let’s Go Get Lost“. Cause getting lost is more fun anyways.
Markku Koski is our Bro of the week! And it was about time. Seems to us that Markku has been ripping pipes, killing big airs and scoring sick video parts since ever! Markku’s track record is so impressive that he rightly has a page on wikipedia
And this year is no different. Markku’s season looks good as he won the big air world title in Korea a few weeks ago and now he is in full filming mode with his sponsors Quik and most importantly StepChild.
Here’s what Marrku has on his agenda for the coming daze:
“Hey,
So I´ve been in Japan for the last two weeks filming with Quiksilver. Its been awesome here and the snow´s just kept coming down. Good times. Now Im in Tokyo, ready to fly to Canada where we will be filming for the new StepChild and 32 movie. Heard it has gotten better in BC so will head up to Whistler and check it out. Im planning on staying in North America for the whole month of March, and just go where ever the good snow is, I quess. So hopefully get to hit up some good backcountry kickers. You can check out more whats going on with the whole movie project at www.uhhson.com.
It’s not super consistent but improving though! Here we go for another BrO[week] and this round up we feature Erik Botner! This is serious stuff again bros. Erik won the award for best video part last October at the Norwegian Snowboard Awards thanks to his awesome session in Isenseven’s Teenage Love Graffiti!
His video part is embedded at the end of the post but before you check it, here’s what Erik has on his agenda this week:
I’m in Switzerland filming now, and it finally cleared up and we got some good weather . Has been snowing for one week now straight, so it’s a lot of snow. Had the funniest days in the past few days, have never been riding so much powder. So much fun! Read the rest of this entry »
Woohaa!! The BrOADER[week] section is a bit chaotic! Indeed only 3 featuring since the beginning of the year…Anyway, we give you always the best! Danny Larsen, Stian Solberg and Vicci Miller for this last hit!
Now drop into the life of one of the most famous British rider. Check it out!
A secondBrOADER[week] in 2009, and another Norwegian ambassador of style on the line! After Danny Larsen we give you Stian Solberg. Stian plans for the week: lots of filming for the new up coming 32/Stepchild movie in Mammoth, USofA. Check out all the details below!
Hola!
I just got to So-Cal last week… and i’ve been trying to get my shit together so I could start filming for the new 32/Stepchild movie coming out this fall.
I was supposed to be outta here on my way to Mammoth Friday (the 16th), but I guess the Americans have something called Martin Luther King weekend, and that starts Friday 16th and lasts til’ Monday 19th. So couldn;t get a room at any hotels in Mammoth, but I guess it’s been really crowded there this weekend, so i’m kinda stoked I got to stay a couple more days in So-Cal to work of this jetlag I had coming from Norway.
Anyways, my plans this week are as follow’s:
Wahooo!!! The BrOADER[week] is back!!! Yeah that was missing since the beginning of the season…but the nightmare ends and the light is coming back as a flashing thunder in the night. Misses and Gentlemen…Miiiiiister Danny LARSEN!
“I’m not much of planner, actually I hate planning. I rather decide to do something and then just do it instead of plan to do something. So as you might understand I don’t really know what’s gonna happen this week. It’s going to be a complete and utter mystery to both you, me and my surroundings. I know I’m going to try to finish a painting, but I need more black and white paint, so that’s the main mission for Monday, get paint and try to get that painting done.
I’m having a meeting with Whiteout on Wednesday, so that’s another planned activity for the week, but there it stops, no more plans. I’m hoping to get my ass down to the alps sometime this week and start shooting with Pirate Movie Production, maybe Tuesday will be a good day to look for tickets?
Thursday I’m planning to save the world from yet another mediocre rock riff by not recording it and thus sparing your ears. Friday I will most likely be on a plane to Munich, praying to whoever’s listening that they won’t lose my bags.
Saturday is all about being annoyed with all the stuff I forgot at home. I’m gonna tell myself “Why the hell didn’t you just write a list with stuff you have to bring for this trip when you’re writing about this happening for Snowbroader, idiot?”.
On sunday I’ll figure out that all the Austrian stores are closed on Sundays and I can’t buy the stuff I need before Monday…”
Ah ah! Click and chek out Danny and Pirates Kalle and Sani shredding Mammoth for the opening w-e.
The second project is “Trace of Soul” from White Label Films. Unlike the Stereotactic crew the guys from White Label had no so much money to travel far away or make heli shots. But still they visited Turkey, Ukraine (Carpathians Mountains), Finland and Russians cities like Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kirovsk.
The riders are Andrey Moskvin, Kostya Kokorev, Philipp Anan’in, Nikolay Bobr’, Yura Gavrilov, Dmitriy Titushkin, Alexey Babenko and friends.
The premiere was last thursday in Moscow. Check the teaser below!
These 2 movie from Russia just show how much motivition and level there is in that part of the world and we really look forward seeing more of these scene in the winters to come!
Hi Dudes!!! We just had some news from our BrO Igor from Moscow!
As he sent us some hot stuff about two video projects, we decided to write a double post dedicated to Russia…Here we go with the first part:
“Kitchen” is a big project with a huge budget. The filming took place from December 2007 till August 2008. During this time the crew visited Kamchatka, Greenland, Norway (there they had a special session in Folgefonna), Sweden, Chili and two resorts in the Caucasus: Krasnay Polyana and Dombai (during the Spring Snowboard Camp).
Featuring the riding of riders as Andrey Moskvin, two brothers Artem and Victor Teymurov, Petr Yastrebkov, Alexandr Moroz, Alexandr Bragin, Alexey Osovickiy and Dmitry Fesenko (this two guys spent a lot of time last winter with Pirate Movie Production), Max Balahovsky, Sergey Tarasov and friends.
The premiere was about 3 weeks ago in Moscow. Here are some pix!
