Better late then never!! Aaven is finally ready to present its 2009/10 boards collection, and it was definitely worth the wait!
The young brand from Bourg Saint Maurice / Les Arcs, France with roots in Finland as well, is coming back next winter with a totally renewed collection featuring new graphics and new specs!
Aaven decided to change production factory from Austria to Switzerland, and took the opportunity to change the shapes and style of graphics as well! It’s all about the monkey’s for next year!
We are stoked to see the progression of this small, rider owned brand with a big heart year after year, and hope to have the chance to ride these decks next winter again!

Click to discover the boards and all the specs! What do you think about them?

Right after the Mondial du Snowboard last November, the Euro riders from the Bataleon team hooked up in HIntertux for a photoshoot. Behind the lens was Vanessa Andrieux and in front l’Arrogs, Kalle, Andy, Tyler, David, Gulli, Robin, Aleksi and last but not least Vicci Miller.

“This is a small and funny video of the last autumn Photo-shoot of our european riders… Maybe the shooting with the worst weather-forecast ever: Not even one sunny day, just rain, ice, fog and a crazy wind! I think we can almsot call this a storm… so this is not the most impressive ride ever… but it was so much fun anyways… and a big Smile on all the crew faces !  Sometimes the worst is the best… or something like that…?” Enjoy it :-)
YEAH FOR IT!

For 2010, the ROUGH crew stays true to their XS, S, M, L board sizing concept but they introduce some new shape with blunt nose and tails. Fight for your right to ride what YOU want. Ride for yourself and nothing else.
The S,M and L boards have the inverted camber design while the XS womens board has traditional positive camber, all are true twin tip. Their sizes are 146 - 149 - 152 - 155. The Bros told us they are getting excellent feedback from their riders who are using them in Park City at the moment..So check out ROUGH next fall!

Reverse camber, Rocker technology, Amptek, CamRock, Banana, call it as you like, negative camber is THE big thing for next year. You probably noticed it from all our posts covering 09/10 collections…Except Bataleon - coz they have TBT - almost every brand is offering at least one model with negative camber in its next winter collection, if not on all its decks. “Is”? We really should say “was”….

During his cross-country road trip to California in a quest to make Pamela Anderson his wife and take her back to his country, Borat, Kazakhstan’s sixth most famous man and most popular TV reporter, apparently also stopped by at Mervin Manufacturing!
Here he is posing in his trademark outfit on the Lib Tech Banana Hammock! If this deck goes out like that, it might just be the sickest graphics of 2009/10! And definitely a board you will want to make sexy time with.

Haven’t seen this board at ISPO or anywhere else. But if the founder of Forum says that’s the graphics of his 2009/10 Forum deck based on the Substance, well we’ll damn believe him. Here’s what Peter Line has to say about it on his blog:

These are the new graphics I did for my 09-010 board series. It’s a goat-bat shooting love lasers into Q-burt land. Basically a metaphor of my childhood- I was a rocker (goat-bat demon love) and played video games at the local arcade (Q-bert) and the love lasers represent the seductive glances I would give all those hotties in Mrs. Smith’s 4th grade class.

Can’t wait to see this deck for real!

When we published our ISPO post featuring our coverage of 2010 outerwear, we mentionned we’d focus on HOLDEN with a dedicated post and an interview with founder and owner: Mikey LeBlanc!
So here it is! No need to introduce Mikey, we all saw him do gnarly bomb drops in lots of videos ;)
Mikey talks about all the exciting things around his brand: the new 2010 collection of course, which offers something different than the other brands in terms of cuts and look, but also the video project he is backing: Videograss.
Videograss will feature some of the most progressive riders out there with the support of some of the freshest brands like Ashbury, Airblaster, or Signal. Stay alert coz teasers should hit the net really really soon. Videograss will surely be a must see next September.
Enough words, click for our interview with Mikey!

Are you ready for a mega download? Here’s our post featuring the triple B: Boards x Bindings x Boots.
We covered quite a lot of brands during the Snow Avant Premiere. So click as well on our 09/10 collection page if you want some previews from YES, Signal, Artec, APO, Elan and Elan Chicas, Burton, Bataleon, Forum, Salomon, Ride, K2, Nitro, Rome, DC, Nidecker, Drake, Northwave, Vans, Union, Hammer, Santa Cruz, Flow, Nomis, Airblaster, Celtek, IS design, Smith optics, Bern, Dakine, Protec…coz we got that covered. You can also check out our Flickr page for heaps of pictures nicely organised by sets.
So at ISPO we tried to find some stuff we hadn’t seen before. Take the 32 - Stepchild collab featuring a board -above- and a boot for example. Talking about 32 and Stepchild you might want to check the page dubbed UhhSon of their up-coming movie project. The title has not yet been chosen by the way and you can give them your inputs.
Other interesting collabs to mention are the 686 x New Balance boots and the Flux x Elm bindings. In the boards slideshow look out for the Travis Rice promodel at Libtech and the complete collection of Capita that we hadn’t covered previously. Imperium also has a nice collection next year. Our shout out goes to the Stephane “mamar” Lochon signature board which is tribute to Franck Screm and will come with a skate deck. Rossignol has some interesting stuff as well specially in terms of graphic collabs like on the Retox or the Angus. You definitly have to check out the new Jeremy Jones freeride deck as well. Of course there is a lot of hype behind RDM, JPS and DCP coming up with their new board brand YES…
On the binding side, the new Agro binding from GNU is making a total commitment to Fastec Technology which enables smooth and easy “Backdoor” entry. Finally Nitro reveals a new top end binding, the Machine, which features a smaller disc system requiring just 2 screws for extended tuning options…

Check it all out in the slideshows below and ask us if you want any details or HD pics!
