Shaun White was born with a Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect for which he endured two open-heart operations before the age of one. He spent his formative years riding Okemo Mountain and Bear Mountain, small ski resorts found in Ludlow, Vermont, and the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. White following in his older brother’s foot steps, switched from skiing to snowboarding at age six, by age seven he received his first sponsorship.

To sum it up…Shaun White flew 7.5 metres above the halfpipe, Kazuhiro showed what means to have a STYLE, his Japan Mctwists will not be forgoten, Scotty exposed his talents, Peetu and iPod were a serious threat to US team as far as medals were concerned, Markku Koski proved that he is still in the game, etc…I think that was the greatest event ever in Halfpipe history or even in Olympic Games History!

Australia’s Torah Bright won the gold medal in the Olympic women’s halfpipe yesterday, defeating American Hannah Teter during a pressure-packed second run. It is Australia’s first-ever Olympic medal in the event.

With less then few hours to go before the mens halfpipe final, all the riders had one last session to tighten their skills before the main event. With less than favorable snow and pipe conditions, practice has been limited to the only three days but tonight things seemed to come together and the pipe is in great shape. Thanks to some colder temps and some rain last night the walls are holding shape and riders will be boosting their asses above the sky.
