This Tuesday, spectators at Stratton Mountain saw the first day of competition of the 6Star Burton US Open 2010. Under sunny skies and in spring like conditions, 34 riders battled for 20 spots in the qualifications that then saw 10 snowboarders proceeding to semis finals that are taking place this Saturday.

For the third year in a row the Oakley Jib-Vid crew are in Mayrhofen awaiting the arrival of the 18 teams who will compete for the coveted top prize of 5,000 euros for their 2-minute film. In just a couple of hours the teams’ arrival will be greeted by beautiful blue skies in the picturesque Zillertal valley.

100 riders from six countries joined the Stubai Jam as the third stop of the Quiksilver Wir Schanzen on March 13th to ring in the Spring Sessions at the Moreboards Stubai Zoo. A mixture of sun, wind, perfect setup, relaxed atmosphere and not to forget the snowboard and ski action made a brilliant day on the Stubai Glacier.

Riders from around the globe are currently making the trek to Stratton, Vermont for the men’s last 6Star event of the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour season.  The 6Star Burton US Open is set to take hold of Stratton Mountain Resort all next week with slopestyle finals scheduled for Friday, March 19th and halfpipe finals set for Saturday, March 20th.

Every week one of your favourite Horsefeathers-Pros will present a trick you have to imitate within one week and on a similar obstacle. Once you have sticked and filmed the trick you have to upload it as video file to the King of S.N.O.W platform. Needless to say that you should try to copy the trick with as much style as possible in order to get as many judging points as possible in the worldwide ranking. Because in every single round the most gnarly and styled trick will be rewarded with a massive Horsefeathers stuff package.

Switzerland’s Iouri Podladtchikov returned from Winter X Games 14 with a silver medal, a fourth place finish from the Olympics in Vancouver, and can now add gold to that list from his win today at Winter X Games Europe. France’s Mathieu Crepel, who finished tenth at the Vancouver Olympics, was close behind to land the silver.

Jenny Jones went into today’s final in the number one spot after she led the entire field in eliminations on Wednesday. Jones takes home her first Winter X Games Europe Slopestyle gold after taking home gold at Winter X Games in Aspen in both 2009 and 2010 – the first woman from Great Britain to earn a Winter X Games medal.

Kaitlyn Farrington has competed in the Winter X Games for the past three years, and tonight in the women’s Snowboard SuperPipe final, she leaves Winter X Games Europe with her first gold medal. In a field of six women, four of whom were Olympians, Farrington and Bright went head-to-head for the title.
