This is sort of the buzz of the week going around the snowboardinterweb, so hey what the heck, we serve it to you as well. Meet Alexis Roland, possibly the next Shaun White. Alexis is an 8 years old girl from Minnesota. She began riding at the age of 5 and first gained media attention when a video was posted of her riding on the internet at age 6! She even had small parts in several snowboard videos already, including the bonus section of “Ro Sham Bo” by Misschief Films, and “Frozen Assets” by First Tracks Productions.
The youngster can hit rails, stomp rotations, and she even has her own website, and wikipedia entry!
Lexi is just one - maybe the most talented girl - among a breed of upcoming talents who will rock the snowboard scene in the decades to come.
Pretty scary in some way, how parents, and athlete managers have identified snowboarding as a sport where big bucks can be made on their kid’s talent. Shaun White was the first and now there is a whole generation of 5-10 years old who are training hard and getting ready to make him feel old.
In the case of Lexi, Burton has already added her on the Smalls team and, I guess, are working hard with the athlete management company taking care of her and her parents to turn her into the next big snowboard star. Mark my words.
Check this video…feeling old? Guess so.

During last year’s Nikita Chickita Ana Rumiha made it to the women’s finals, narrowly missing out on a podium place, finishing 4th.
This year the judges all confirmed she was the clear winner, busting out some consistent and stylish runs. She claimed 1st place, 1,000 Euros prize money and the coveted one-year Nikita contract. We’ve also bet on her pretty early this season as we’ve featured her in our snowbroader.eu’s header in November 2007…hehehe!
Here is Ana’s feeling: “I think I first found out about Nikita Chickita on the Internet last year and four of my friends were ready to go straight away. Last year’s contest was the most fun one I’ve ever been on, so I decided to come back again this year.

Nikita chikita

It happens sometimes! almost once a year…we are unforgivable! The NIKITA CHIKITA was held in Serfaus a month ago and we only post today the contest’s report…

Anyway that was a fantastic event! The Serfaus weather was kind, the girls were ready and the atmosphere was just buzzing. Earlier on in the day, during qualifications, the snow flurries set in reducing visibility but soon cleared up with bright sunny spells shining as the afternoon wore on and the finals took place.

Founder and Head Designer of Nikita Clothing Heida Birgisdottir was in Serfaus to witness the contest and give away prizes as well to do some shredding herself. When asked, she said that:
it’s great to see how much the girls are progressing, not only in tricks, but also in style. I’m stoked that we at Nikita have been able to create an event where the girls get together and push each other without the often not so pleasant ‘contest pressure’ in the air. They are just hanging out and chatting between runs, the atmosphere is super friendly - and I think that’s exactly why they are pushing themselves to new levels here today. This is also what makes the Nikita Chickita, as an event, a pure success.

Ana Rumiha was a clear winner with some really safe and stylish runs. She won 1,000 Euros and the coveted one-year Nikita contract.Next up Nikita’s Czech Republic team rider Bohdana Šebestová showed versatility, grabbing second place and 500 Euros. Closely behind followed Maude Richon in a much deserved third place and 250 Euros.

It was a fantastic day all round and we’re already looking forward to next years! Se you there girls!

Watch Method.tv video report! it rocks…
