Following his silver medal at Vancouver in the Super pipe, Peetu Piiroinen was crowned the champion of the Toyota Big Air in Japan in an all Finnish final.
Antti Autti has officially announced that he will not be representing Finland at Vancouver after he was awarded the opportunity, due to the injury of Ilka-Eemeli Laari, to chase powder in Japan.
Another gorgeous day greeted riders and spectators today at Canada Olympic Park for the men’s and women’s slopestyle semifinal competition. Bluebird skies illuminated the 600m long slopestyle course which was made up of a step-up saddle to down box, followed by a down-flat-down kink rail, a log jib, down rail, wall ride and three kickers, two of which were split down the middle by a channel.
Thursday, the third day of the Burton Canadian Open, saw optimal conditions for the men’s and women’s slopestyle qualifications at Canada Olympic Park with bluebird skies and brisk temps. First to drop were the women in their qualification round, 22 women took to the course which featured rails, boxes, a wall ride, three kickers and a log jib.
Today we spend the day at the Snow Avant Premiere in La Clusaz, where we were able to get an exclusive look at most of the new collections and ride some 2011 decks in some pretty perfect conditions! Smoking the pipe was filmed in conjunction with Flatlight Films in April of 2009 in Anttis home resort of Ounasvaara in Rovaniemi Finnish Lapland. The shoot features Antti Autti riding through a smoke screen created by Smoke machines.
9 Months of snow is a story of a group of riders exploring winter playgrounds of Ruka & Pyhä ski resort areas in Finnish Lapland. As the name of the movie suggests, the ski season really is 9 months long. From the dark days of October, through magical Christmas time and midwinter, sunny & funny spring events till season ending jibbing sessions in June. The movie is full of beautiful winter sceneries, magical winter feeling and great riding.
Some of the best all-around snowboarders will gather for a special New Years celebration in Oslo where The Oakley Arctic Challenge will take place. This incredible spectacle will start on December 28th2009 and end on January 4th 2010.
