Shaun White was born with a Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect for which he endured two open-heart operations before the age of one. He spent his formative years riding Okemo Mountain and Bear Mountain, small ski resorts found in Ludlow, Vermont, and the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. White following in his older brother’s foot steps, switched from skiing to snowboarding at age six, by age seven he received his first sponsorship.

In 2004 Jake Blauvelt killed it at SlopeStyle U.S. Open when he was only 17 years old, few years later he blew minds at “the contests that matter” a.k.a. Arctic Challenge with mellow 9.4-meter (30-plus feet) backside airs in the rain. Shortly after his first major global statement he exchanged icy park jumps for soft powder turns and became one of the world’s most recognized backcountry rippers. Coming from Waterbury Center, Vermont and riding for Oakley and Ride.

You’re not going to believe this, but Shaun White is quite rich, we could say the richest in Vancouver right now. In fact, according to Forbes HE IS the richest Winter Olympian in Vancouver.

When Mack Dawg Productions told me they were not making a video in 2009 I wasn’t sure what to do about filming for this season. I had worked on filming video parts my entire career and this was the first time that I didn’t have any solid plans. It was almost instantly that I received a call from my Oakley team manager telling me about this idea for shooting a TV show. The idea was simple, and that was me traveling the globe, riding new places and documenting it. Who wouldn’t be stoked on this idea? I gave them two thumbs up and we started planning straight away.
