Yesterday, the 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge (TAC) saw 32 of snowboarding’s best slopestyle riders battling for one of twenty spots in the semi finals that are today. One of Norway’s most famous riders Torstein Horgmo, used his home country advantage and qualified in first. The slopestyle course in Tryvann Vinterpark, Olso, served as a brand new location for this elite Swatch TTR competition.

After a great season for the 06/07 TTR World Snowboard Champion, Shaun White, he arrives at Vancouver as the stand out favorite for the Olympic Gold Medal. Another gorgeous day greeted riders and spectators today at Canada Olympic Park for the men’s and women’s slopestyle semifinal competition. Bluebird skies illuminated the 600m long slopestyle course which was made up of a step-up saddle to down box, followed by a down-flat-down kink rail, a log jib, down rail, wall ride and three kickers, two of which were split down the middle by a channel.

Thursday, the third day of the Burton Canadian Open, saw optimal conditions for the men’s and women’s slopestyle qualifications at Canada Olympic Park with bluebird skies and brisk temps. First to drop were the women in their qualification round, 22 women took to the course which featured rails, boxes, a wall ride, three kickers and a log jib.

Poland’s Paulina Ligocka (25 years old) and Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen (21 years old) won the 11th Burton European Open halfpipe event today. Each will take home US$ 15.000 in prize-money and also important points towards the BGOS and TTR rankings. Ursina Haller (SUI) and Ilkka-Eemeli Laari (FIN) earned second place and Akiko Miwa (JPN) and Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) took third place.
