Over 80 Riders Compete at The US Open Slopestyle Pre-QualisPosted by: medo in Contests, TTR
At the second day of competition of the 6Star Burton US Open a over 80 snowboarders fought for one of 41 spots to proceed to qualifiers which will happen on Thursday. The mild temperatures and soft slopes did not stop riders to show their best skills as this is their chance to battle the world’s best riders on Friday in the slopestyle semi finals and finals.

This Tuesday, spectators at Stratton Mountain saw the first day of competition of the 6Star Burton US Open 2010. Under sunny skies and in spring like conditions, 34 riders battled for 20 spots in the qualifications that then saw 10 snowboarders proceeding to semis finals that are taking place this Saturday.
One of the most impressive snowboard athletes in the world today, Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), reconfirmed his reputation with a first place finish at the coveted 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge.

2010 Burton US Open Brings Olympic Snowboarders to VermontPosted by: medo in Contests, TTR
The 28th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships will once again host thousands of fans and many of the world’s top snowboarders for a weekend of slopestyle, rail jam and halfpipe competitions. Taking place at Stratton Mountain Resort from March 15-21, the Open is the first US event since the 2010 Olympics where snowboard medalists Shaun White, Peetu Piiroinen, Scotty Lago, Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark will compete.
This 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge (TAC) saw 32 of snowboarding’s best slopestyle riders whittled down to the three best slopestyle riders worthy enough to step on the podium.
Today, we saw the semi finals of the 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge on the Tryvann Vinterpark slopestyle course on the scenic outskirts of Oslo, Norway. Peetu Piiroinen was in form and qualified in the top spot of his heat leaving Seppe Smits in second and Torstein Horgmo (NOR) in third place. The second heat was dominated by the two Norwegian warriors Mikkel Bang and Tore Holvik leaving Eric Willett in third. In the final tomorrow, ten qualified snowboarders including Mark McMorris, Ville Uotila, Roope Tonteri and Sage Kotsenburg will ride it out for the coveted TAC Title and of course a maximum 1000 Swatch TTR Ranking points.

Yesterday, the 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge (TAC) saw 32 of snowboarding’s best slopestyle riders battling for one of twenty spots in the semi finals that are today. One of Norway’s most famous riders Torstein Horgmo, used his home country advantage and qualified in first. The slopestyle course in Tryvann Vinterpark, Olso, served as a brand new location for this elite Swatch TTR competition.

The first Off-Alps Wir Schanzen tourstop that took place on Feb 20th at the Snowpark Haubach/Thuringia was a great success. 46 riders from Germany, Austria and Switzerland presented a top-class snowboard and freeski show to the visitors and the judges.

The second annual Burton Canadian Open (CANO) has come to a close and Brett Esser (USA) and Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) have come out on top, winning the men’s and women’s slopestyle competition today at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. After seeing optimal conditions during the week with bluebird skies, the weather took a turn for the worse with low visibility and frigid temps making for challenging riding during finals.

The level of the Skullcandy Sista Sessions Video Clip contest was incredibly high and after some careful deliberation the winner is…(drum rolls)… Urška Pribošič from Slovenia. In her clip she showcased a banging frontside 720 and solid park riding skills. With her new pair of Skullcandy headphones and 100€ in her pocket, Urška will be joining us at the Skullcandy Sista Sessions on the 13th of February 2010 at the Mayrhofen Vans Penken Park, Austria, for the Swatch TTR 3Star Slopestyle competition, to compete for the $2500USD prize purse and valuable TTR points.

Paulina Ligocka and Peetu Piiroinen Win Burton European Open Halfpipe TitlesPosted by: medo in BEO, Contests, TTR
Poland’s Paulina Ligocka (25 years old) and Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen (21 years old) won the 11th Burton European Open halfpipe event today. Each will take home US$ 15.000 in prize-money and also important points towards the BGOS and TTR rankings. Ursina Haller (SUI) and Ilkka-Eemeli Laari (FIN) earned second place and Akiko Miwa (JPN) and Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) took third place.
